It was a sad day on Georges River, Sydney, and the outcome was a tragic one as a day of fun on the water turned deadly.
A teenager is dead, and his 14-year-old friend is severely injured after a dangerous jet ski accident at Tom Uglys Bridge in Sydney south shore.
Police officers of New South Wales Police Department were called to the emergency situation that was very upsetting at about 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22.
When they reached the place where the boys had fallen on the Sylvania side of the Georges River, one of them was already dead, and his little companion had been left with injuries which endangered his life.
Crash Causes Heartbreak
According to initial reports, the teenage friends were riding together on the same jet ski when bad things happened.
The Sutherland Shire Police Area Command, Inspector Tim Carter, told the reporters that the investigators suppose that the jet ski hit some unknown object or obstacle in the water, and violently threw both boys out of the vehicle.
It would be at this point that it would seem that the jet ski crashed into something in the water and the two boys have been thrown off and they incurred these horrible injuries as explained by Inspector Carter in a media briefing.

The 15 year old boy was lifted out of the waters dead and nothing could be done to bring him back to life even as the emergency personnel tried to do so frantically.
His 14-year-old friend had been found in the area, with critical injuries, including the traumatic amputation of an arm.
Critically-ill Teen goes into Coma
The paramedics were fast at the scene, sedating the injured boy and putting him in an induced coma before handling him to the Sydney Children s Hospital.
He was in a serious condition, and his doctors were struggling to stabilize him after sustained trauma.
A crime scene was set by emergency services, including marine police, around the area, and investigations are underway to establish exactly what could have caused the fatal collision.
Police are still yet to identify the two teenagers publicly respecting the families of the two.
The Horror as Witnessed by the Eyes Reveal it
According to locals, it was a distressing scene of chaos. One neighbor, Alexandra Farrugia, who saw the aftermath, told ABC News that she and her partner were walking close to the bridge when they heard a strange noise on the river.
So many police boats, so much water with flashing lights. we watched them dragging a drowned body out of the river, face down… It was horrible and devastating, recalled Farrugia.
A witness who happened to be by the side wrote, the mood was tragic and hopeless, in just a couple of minutes, the entire place was crowded with ambulances and police boats examining the waters.
Society in Shock
Georges River location is a kind of recreational point of family entertaining activities, mainly in the warmer months.
Tuesday incident however has resulted in the community being devastated, with many raising concerns over the safety of water especially to the youth and inexperienced riders.
There is no doubt we have been shocked at this incident, said Inspector Carter. We are thinking of the families of these young boys at this immensely difficult period.”
Police Probe Accident Causality
Although initial reports indicated that there was a crash with an object, police are still investigating the case.
Inspector Carter said, We are investigating the role played by speed, lack of experience, and any other thing that may have led to this tragedy.
The police are also looking to see whether or not the boys had on adequate safety clothing such as life jackets during the accident, a very important information that would have made a difference.
The authorities have yet to disclose whether the jet ski was owned by one of the families or, on the contrary, was leased by a local vendor.
Those conducting the investigation will examine the jet ski to see whether it had mechanical complications and monitor surveillance videos around the locales.
Tragedy Brings Out Increased Jet Ski Accidents
The tragedy that happened on Tuesday is not the first jet ski accident reported in Australia, as this seems to be a chain affair.

This had happened just a month ago when a mother was killed in a similar accident after she had hit her teenage daughters. Police are calling on parents and the youth to be extra cautious when using boats.
Inspector Carter cautioned that Jet skis are a lot of fun and a dangerous thing to toy with when at high speed or in unknown waters.
We want to ask everybody to be ready to be mindful, to observe speed limits, and to comprehend the risks that can be hidden under the surface.
Community Gives Support as Families Mourn
The families of the victims have requested to be left alone to accept their loss.
The locals have already started laying flowers and other contributions to the site with much of them demanding stricter security on the Georges River so that such could never happen again.
With the police still investigating, the community is faced with the loss of a young life taken away prematurely and hopes that the other boy who has a long painful road ahead of him as he heals.
