One of the richest and most popular businessmen in Ghana by the name Dr Osei Kwame Despite, as he recalls, told everyone that sometimes, less is more: it is true when it comes to life, laughter, and remaining active.
A recent video that has been going viral on social media depicts the otherwise conservative millionaire abandoning his fancy suits and expensive cars to go casual: blue jeans, polo shirt, and sandals at the East Legon Executive Fitness Club.
Despite, who hardly ventures out in the streets in casual attire, stunned and flattered Ghanaians when he was spotted having fun as he ran after a blogger as part of a fitness event held by EMY Africa to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
A Billionaire in Blue Jeans
Nicknamed as the Greatness Walk, it featured some of the best of Ghanaian including singer Becca and business tycoon Ernest Ofori Sarpong in a campaign to support health and a celebration of success on the continent.
However the biggest buzz was about the appearance of Despite.

Millionaire CEO of the Despite Group of Companies, who boasts of a Bugatti chiron, a collection of Rolls-Royces and the first automobile museum in Ghana, came in casual attire. It was actually an eye-opener to most people.
He was so simple a fellow, and still he was conspicuous. That is the strength of being there,” explained one event-goer.

Kennedy Asante Osei, the eldest son of Despite and the General Manager of Despite Media was also seen at the event. Kennedy, who is also a stylish man and business person, was also completely involved in the exercise programs with his father.

The story of Dr Osei Kwame Despite continues to motivate. He was born on February 2, 1962, in the Ashanti Region, and started life as a petty trader dealing in music cassettes, padlocks, and bottles for babies. He has become a hallmark of strength, foresight, and order due to his pathway through street-side stalls to establishing one of the business empires in Ghana.
In the present time, he is the owner of the Despite Group of Companies, which comprises media giants such as UTV and Peace FM, Best Point Savings and Loans, and Neat Foods Company.
