The Jonas Brothers are not just a pop star family; they have been in it all, and they have been through it all together.
The youngest of the brothers of the popular trio, Nick Jonas, is now speaking up on how the battle of colon cancer waged by their dad, Kevin Jonas Sr. united their family stronger than ever.
During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Nick opened up on how the Jonas family managed to turn their most difficult moment around into a lesson of strength of unity.
Together with Mastercard, the brothers, Stand Up to Cancer supporters, reveal that the experience of their father, going through illness, has altered their perception of life, forever.
Nick, 32, confessed that such emotional times definitely make you test your limits. Our dad though, was such a champion.
He had the courage in the entire process. His power was what we needed as power.”

In 2017, the brothers had a diagnosis of colon cancer when their father, Kevin Jonas Sr., diagnosed with this issue, was already getting occupied with personal lives and careers.
Luckily, since 2018, he is in remission. Reverting to those bad days, Nick himself stated, “We all experience things at a tough time in life and I am just happy we survived and are better as a family unit.”
The Jonas Brothers are rounding off this part of their resistance with their newly developed initiative.
They have collaborated with Mastercard and Stand Up to Cancer to launch a new song, named I Can t Lose, which according to them is an emotional anthem about never giving up. A heartfelt video accompanies the song, which was released on July 15 at the All-Star Game of the 2025 MLB season. Survivors and friends of cancer patients were used in the video.
The same sentiments were echoed by Joe Jonas, 35 during the interview. Our daddy has been through a lot about the treatment and surgeries and came out miraculously.
It actually defined our family structure we had in place,” Joe said.
Cancer touches everyone in one way and we are fortunate to be sharing our music and this campaign to create awareness and bring some joy during difficult moments.
Emotional music video of a song I Can t Lose, underlines the effect of cancer on the family.
The fans wrote about their own experiences, and they were unaware of the fact that they will be surprised by Nick, Joe, and Kevin themselves, as they will be seen in New York City delivering performance.
Joe added, “We are lucky to have encountered thousands of great fans in the course of years.” Through this campaign we can get closer to people, listen to their stories and give them happiness in a moment.
Another 37-year-old participant of these emotional times Kevin Jonas also thought about the force of music.
He replied: with music the healing can come. We wish that this song can make people feel some sort of understanding and be heard.
The promotion is a special season to Jonas Brothers. They are preparing their release of album Greetings from Your Hometown and the world tour featuring their 20 th anniversary in August.
Yet, their collaboration with Stand Up to Cancer has a much more personal connotation as it reminds them where and whom they started with, and where their priorities lie.
Nick feels that, the theme of their new song is an universal message. According to him, the chorus is simply about not quitting despite life taking its curveballs at you.

It is some sort of an the anthem to everybody going through hard times, a virtual nudge to press onwards.
Until August 22, Mastercard will give one cent, capped at $5 million, of every eligible purchase at restaurants and grocery stores to the Stand Up to Cancer.
To the Jonas Brothers, this charity project is not only about their father fighting but also about making others not give up.
Nick summed it up with a touching phrase: “Whenever we have an opportunity to play a minor role in the lives of people, we are happy.
And so long as the people are being helped with our music through a bit of what we went through, it would all be worth it.”
The story of the Jonas Brothers tells us that we should not lose hope even in the worst moments as family, love and music can help us.
Their biggest win may well be the togetherness they have achieved as a family as they mark the 20th anniversary of music and more memories.
