Teresa Giudice and Luis Ruelas, known for their presence on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, are facing serious tax troubles. According to records obtained, the couple has been hit with over $3 million in tax liens. Giudice owes approximately $303,889.20, while Ruelas’ debt is nearly $2.6 million.
This financial setback comes just three months after Ruelas was issued another lien of $163,523.94 in December 2024, and per the New Jersey Courts website indicates that the case remains open.
Giudice, who married Ruelas in 2022, has previously faced legal battles. Back in 2015, she served an 11-month prison sentence for mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud. Despite her incarceration, Giudice has often spoken about how she believes she was targeted due to her public persona.
“I know in my heart I was not supposed to go there. I know I only went because I’m in the public eye,” she stated in 2022. She insists she was unaware of her ex-husband Joe Giudice’s financial dealings, which landed them both in legal trouble.
Joe Giudice served a 41-month prison sentence for similar fraud charges and was deported to Italy upon release. The couple ended their 20-year marriage after his deportation.
Giudice and Ruelas got engaged in 2021, but their relationship has faced controversy due to allegations of past domestic issues. Ruelas in 2022 denied physical violence, but Giudice remains steadfast in her support despite public criticism and rumors of instability.

Ahead of their wedding, Giudice made headlines by revealing she and Ruelas chose not to sign a prenuptial agreement. “I mean, I would [sign one] if he said so. I’m so very easy about that,” she told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live. “He definitely has more than me. I would never take anything from him.”
Amid speculation that their marriage has been strained by financial and public pressures, Giudice remains publicly devoted to her husband. “I love and adore him so much,” she stated in 2023 on her Namaste B$tches podcast.
She brushed off concerns about a rocky relationship, humorously adding, “Maybe we shake together when we dance, but that’s about it.”
Despite their growing financial troubles, Giudice and Ruelas continue to present a united front against criticism and controversy.
