In a nice change of pace, Joe has been vocal about the good relationship he has with his ex-wife as a co-parent and his comments were heartwarming.
Joe paused in his intimate podcast conversation with motivational speaker Jay Shetty to explain what life after divorce is like—especially how he and Sophie work together as co-parents.
He commented, “Both our children really love and appreciate their mother.” I’m glad I have a wonderful co-parenting experience.
People who followed the couple’s divorce closely are surprised to hear these words. While they’d only been married four years and struck by sudden legal custody concerns, Joe and Sophie used to look far apart. But now? From what you say, they’re doing better—and even seem to work well together.
A Relationship That’s Sweeter Than Marriage
What really stood out in Joe’s speech was not the compliment to Sophie—it was how he spoke about fathering their daughters together.

“Their mom, Sophie, is truly amazing and having her is a dream for these girls,” he said, with clear admiration in his voice. I hope my girls can look up to strong women when they are young.

“I hope they learn to see the world in an open-minded way and have a kind heart,” he added. “If everyone could enter any room and feel certain they can do exactly what they want to do.”
It didn’t take long for it to shift from a celebrity statement to a reflection of the hopes any parent has.
Changed from Chaozu to Harmony
Once Joe and Sophie decided to split up in 2023, things were not simple. There were rumors that the couples often had busy work schedules, different ways of life and disagreements about how to manage custody.
